Michael's broadcasting career began in 2005 when he joined Luton & Dunstable Hospital Radio after returning to the United Kingdom following a period of work in Belgium.  It was there that he earned the affectionate nickname 'Mike Mussels from Brussels', reflecting both his recent return and his engaging on-air personality.

During his time at the station, Michael presented The Feeling Better Show and The Blue Rinse Show, the latter becoming a popular Saturday afternoon programme designed to entertain and uplift listeners.

Following a break from broadcasting, Michael returned to radio in 2024, joining Northamptonshire's Beat Route Radio, where he presented both Drive Time and The Thursday Brunch Show.  In 2025, he moved to NLive Radio in Northampton, presenting the weekly programme Now, That's What I Call Heritage! The show celebrated the rich heritage of Northamptonshire, highlighting the county's archaeology, history, museums, historic buildings, community groups, and heritage events while giving local organisations a platform to share their work with a wider audience.
